Inspired by the likes of Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger, Jim started playing folk music at age 12. He was content to play for kicks while pursuing a career as a journalist and corporate storyteller. As that chapter came to a close, Jim refocused on music. He fronted a cover band called Someday. Then he caught on as a sideman with the Isabel Bailey Band.
Meanwhile, Jim took up songwriting. His solo gigs showcase his original songs, alongside covers of tunes by the songwriters he most admires — Dylan, John Prine, Robert Earl Keen, Townes Van Zandt, and Guy Clark. He also covers some classic country tunes and a few pop songs from the '60s and '70s.
